We the 1st Year Theologians are back after our Ashram experience from Varanasi on 20th Aprail, we arrived there 0n 27th March. It was really a good experience for all of us, completely different life style than the South India. It was the first time that our bach visited the place in the North India. The food, the climate, the language, the life style of the people etc. was new for us. The language which is used there was the Hindi, but the people from the rural areas used the language Bhojpuri (similer to Hindi). All the activities done there was in Hindi, and really we enjoyed the Hindi during the mass celebration, prayers, songs and in many other activities. Priest, Religious, Sisters and the people of there were so friendly that we enjoyed their company.
Strictly speaking the life of Ashram (inside) is the place of Silence and Prayer and it is sure that all of us have got the taste of prayer especially through investing our personal time for our personal prayers. It was amazing to see and experience the faith of the people there especially of the Christ Bhaktas, these are the people who are not baptized but their faith are stronger than the people who are baptized. They do not need the help of docters for their sicknesses but the help and healing touch of Jesus with their total trust and confidence.
We had the blessed time during the Holy Week with prayer, fasting and with many other activities. Especially the way of the cross and it's song was so inspiring and touching that the people could cry. On Good Friday the way of the cross was done through the stage show with the proffesional actors, 99 percent of the people who were acting this show were Hindus and Muslims. It was the God's grace that we knew Fr. Anand IMS, who was directing this stage show and he took us also to act for this show. To watch this show and to celebrate Easter more than 10,000 people were gathered coming from so distant places. The Easter day was really the day of joy and really we could feel the ressurection of our lord Jesus Christ.
We also took one half day to visit the important places at Varanasi in which the special places were -The Sarnath (the birth place of Buddhism), the Ganges, Banaras Hindu Unv., Cathederal Church and it's Meusium and the many other famous Hindu Temples.
With these information of our Ashram Experience at Varanasi we all the 1st Year Theologins can say that we had really a good time. May the Risen Lord Bless us all.
